2 People Killed In Wrong-Way Crash On Route 20 In Central Mass: Police

Two people have died following a wrong-way crash involving several vehicles on a major route in Central Massachusetts, authorities said.

State Troopers responded to the three-vehicle crash on Route 20 at Carroll Hill Road in Charlton on the morning of Wednesday, Dec. 7, Massachusetts State Police report. The crash closed Route 20 in both directions, according to MassDOT on Twitter.

Both of the victims were adults and were each driving their own vehicles, police said. One was pronounced dead at the scene and the other died at UMass Medical Center. Their identities have yet to be released. 

The third motorist involved did not report and injuries. Initial investigation suggests one of the cars was driving westbound in the eastbound lane, police added. The scene was cleared around 4 p.m., according to a separate Tweet from MassDOT. 

The investigation is ongoing. This comes just two days after a man from Danielson, CT was killed in a crash on I-395 in Auburn.
